Old Cricket Club
- THE CLUB HOUSE
Old Playing Field
Heart of the Local Community
The village of Old has rallied around its Cricket Club since they were first founded in 1871. Over the years, Old Cricket Club has been celebrated in many momentous occasions. The most notable being a narrow 48 run loss at the hands of Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, at the famous Wantage Road, in the 1880's. More recently, the village team has seen County Cricketer, Gareth Roderick, call Old 'home' for the 2010/11 season. Better known as 'Rodders' to the locals, Gareth amassed 1,453 runs in 21 innings, at an average of 103.79 for the Club.
The Cricket Club is heavily represented by Old villagers, with multiple generations of families turning out for league fixtures on a Saturday afternoon. The Club is the sporting heart of the local community and offers opportunity for people of all ages to get involved in cricket, whether that be playing or spectating.
